Another update - sent in my EIT registration form today so I can become a professional engineer in the state of California. I take that exam in October.

Also, I want to mention that the trip to NE was great this weekend - Congrats to DKN and KK. As always, fun shooting over at AH's. I've got a really bad ass picture of me with DAL's sawed-off shotgun. We shot at a paintball mask just to see how tough that plastic really is. Neither 12 guage shotgun shot (4 shot) nor a .22 rifle penetrated the plastic - amazing eh? I got some venomous bites on my leg though while out 4 wheeling :(

Two or so weekends ago I hiked San Jacinto from the Idylwild side on the Marion Mountain trail. It was about 12 miles and 4800 feet. See detail here:

Started at 8:00a, and finished by 3p. Took me 2 hours to get home though because I took the 74 hwy and went up the Moreno Valley. I should have gone back up the 243 to the 10 FWY to the 60, to the 91. Oh well, it was a very pretty drive.

Hiking is getting to be a real big part of my life, so I bought more equipment. Trekking poles ($36 for the pair), MSR Mini-Waterworks EX water filter with .3 micron ceramic filter ($64), and also a LED headlamp which runs on three AAA batteries. I still think I need an ultra lightweight, one man tent, but I'll wait until I go on an overnighter to order one of those.

I'm hiking Mt. San Antonio (Old Mt Baldy) in the Angeles Nat'l Forest this Friday with my bro.

Got an A in the Spanish class I took at IVC. And I start the master's degree this Monday the 23rd. I'll type up some preconceptions of the degree so when I get it, I can roll back the pages and reminisce.

The degree will probably be a little tedious, and I really have to watch the lectures the day they're given, or else there will be too much information to learn at the last minute. It will be hard to get my classes to all line up with prerequisites all going in line so I don't have to miss a semester, which would be killer against my momentum. I certainly hope to have more free time while taking a 3 hour course compared to the time commitment I had to put in for my 5 hour course (Spanish). I'd like to move up to 2 courses per semester at some point, but I don't want to kill myself. I like to have free time to go outside and play.

Other impressions - it will be very helpful to meet people here on my work's campus who are also taking the classes over the internet if possible. Let's see, what else... that's all for now.

I'm the #2 hit on google when you search for "cell phone mod." This topic is pretty popular lately with the Pokia guy selling his cell phone modes in the UK. I did it WAY before him (http://www.dreamingpoint.com/projects/cellphone/index.php), and I know another guy in Chicago that did exactly what the Pokia guy did WAY before me.
